Italia!
What an adventure Italy has been, and it has only been 2 days (plus a very long day spent on planes). We landed in Rome yesterday, only to find out that my luggage had been lost by the airline. So I had to wear Rachel's clothes for a day, and even went out and bought some new clothes and underwear. Of course, after I bought new clothes and went to the hotel, I found out that my suitcase had arrived (yay!). Roma is bellisimo! We spent an afternoon/evening in Rome, and were very tired after being up for 30 hours. Today we left Rome for Pompeii and saw the ancient city that was covered by volcanic ash in 79 AD. I didn't get to see as much of it as I would have liked, since the city is huge, but the ruins were amazing.
After Pompeii we stopped in the coastal city of Sorrento, which is up on rocky cliffs above the Mediterranean. We did some shopping and then headed to the island of Capri, where we came to our beautiful hotel and I finally found some wireless internet. The island is rocky and our hotel is at the very top of steep cliffs. The Mediterranean is a deep blue and the area is lush with life, especially lemon and olive trees, flowers, and vineyards. Tomorrow we will be going to the Blue Grotto here at Capri, and the day after that we will head to Naples, then up to Tuscany. I can't believe how much I've seen in such a short time, it is amazing!
I will post more later, my internet is on a time limit and my photoblog is not behaving very well today... :)

life in the "real" world
Well, graduation has come and gone and now I'm officially done with school. No more homework, no more papers, no more tuition... I have started working my part time schedule at IdahoSTARS and started work on a freelance web site. I'm still looking for more freelance stuff, but perhaps it would be a good idea to take it one project at a time. I don't feel like a professional graphic designer with a degree and all, but I guess I am. Maybe it's just not that different because I've had freelance & design jobs for about two years already. I like it; eventually I'd like to make a living owning my own firm and/or freelancing. But I need some experience first, and there's already a lot of cool firms out there I could work for. It just seems like it's going to be hard to get my foot in the door anywhere, especially right out of school. But that doesn't mean I won't try!
In addition to work this summer, I'm volunteering for the Co-op Newsletter, which means I get an 18% discount! Now I can actually afford organic food! Yay! Sen and I have been doing all our grocery shopping at the Co-op since January, and it's been pretty expensive but well worth it. Now we don't have to spend quite as much on food, which will help out a lot.
Seneca is backpacking with his dad and brother, so I've been alone in the house with Maya, packing and cleaning. It's so eerily quiet around here without Seneca and Juneau. The boys get back tomorrow. Then I suppose Seneca will start looking for a job. I'm going to Boise on Friday for Rachel's graduation from high school, and then I'll be going back a week later to go to Italy! I can't believe it's coming up so soon. I'm so excited! I set up a photo blog on the photos page so I can upload pictures and post them on a blog for all to see. Enjoy!
I love not having homework, I get so much done and still have free time. Speaking of free time... I think it would be best spent playing guitar. Off I go... :)

I'm almost gradumatated!
Today is my last day of classes, yay! All that's left is to finish up and bind my thesis and turn it in, and clean out the studio. I guess finishing this web site would be a good idea too. It's hard to beleive that I am done with school. It's all I've focused on for the last 16 years... what do I do with myself now?
I've actually got a lot going on for the summer, although I hope to take lots of time to travel, find a job, and go to interviews (or hopefully accomplish all 3 at once) in places I'd like to work. I'll be in Moscow for the summer, finishing up my IdahoSTARS internship and doing some freelance design work. I'll be looking for jobs and researching places to live too. Anyone know of design jobs open in Seattle, Vancouver BC, Portland, or Northern Cali? :)
Advice for anyone going to college (i.e. Rachel, this is for you). Enjoy the 4 (or more) busiest but funnest years of life as you know it. Waste time, dream, relax, have fun, take risks, and work hard. Most of all, love what you do; that's the only way to learn.
Ok time to finish my last class.... :)
