Earthship!

I want an Earthship! What a concept, a self-sufficient eco-friendly dwelling made of recycled and reclaimed materials. It looks like something we might be living in after the fall of capitalism...

I stumbled upon the Earthship site yesterday and I've been intrigued with the idea ever since. Reading about these houses and colonies sounds like a futuristic utopian green dream. I want the one in British Columnbia, but unfortunately I don't have $250,000. If more people lived sustainably, produced their own energy and grew their own food, less people would be promoting corporations that sell garbage we don't need. It certainly would be a lifestyle shift for most of us. The Earthships prove that living sustainably and self-sufficiently is possible. :)

Sustainable Web Host and Other Ramblings

All of my personal sites, including unplug, have moved to a wind-powered web host called Sustainable Marketing. They are a great company, very responsive and helpful, and focused on sustainability and helping green companies. So I'm excited that my server is oil-free!

I am currently gathering images of activist art & statements I see in the streets as I travel. I saw several examples in Italy, and stencils, graffiti, and other art of an activist nature runs rampant in large cities. Unfortunately the street art scene is a bit lacking in Moscow, so in other words, I need to travel more! I plan to collect images and ideas for a future article in unplug. If you have examples of activist street art, please e-mail me pictures and details.

I have lots of ideas for expanding unplug, starting with this web site of course, which I realize is totally lacking in content and design. (I'm such a slacker, I know). I haven't had much time to devote to personal projects other than searching for a job. Now that my personal site is pretty much finished I may be able to squeeze in some work on unplug. I'd like to develop the web site into an infomative resource and engaged community for activists and like-minded folks. And of course it will be well designed, which takes time.

Seneca and I have even been discussing starting up an activist-related business venture, which may be tied into unplug. We'd like to sell radical t-shirts, stickers, and other media to spread the message, but of course, we lack the finances and resources to do it now, so it is but a dream to put on the back burner.

In the meantime, watch for the web site to slowly develop. Once I'm happy with the online presence I can start on unplug issue 2!
